Lot 1831

1836 Pattern Dollar. Silver, plain edge. Restrike. Judd-58. Pollock-61. PCGS graded Proof 61. Original, Coin Alignment/ C. Gobrecht.F. in raised letters below base. Lovely blue and golden toning on both sides with exceptional eye appeal. The surfaces are not quite perfect, as noted in the grade, but this minor fact is more than made up for by the stunning, gorgeous toning. Fully struck, and about 30 to 40 of these exist. These are quite famous for the Name Below Base where Gobrecht signed his name in rather bold fashion. Subsequent dies lacked this feature. Overall, this is a pleasing coin that would be a welcome addition to any advanced collection. Pop 26. (PCGS # 11225) Estimate Value $19,000 - 20,000

Realized $22,800
