Lot 175

1857 C-1 R2 NGC graded MS66 Brown. Frosty light to medium steel brown with tiny peeps of faded mint color showing on the obverse. Satiny mint luster covers this piece and the eye appeal is excellent. No spots or stains. A small, light nick just right of the nostril is the only notable mark, and it is barely visible. Nicely struck EDS except for some weakness on the leaves under OF and others at the bottom of the wreath. The fine die polishing lines in the field at S-OF-AM are clear and there is obvious doubling on most of AMERICA and the dentils above. A nice example of the final year of our "Little Half Sisters." Our grade is MS63. The attribution is noted on the NGC label. Estimate Value $1,000 - UP
Ex Park Avenue 1/16/2004-The Green Tree Collection.
