1809 C-1 R4 VG10. Sharpness near VF20 but there are some light contact marks on both sides, including a half dozen fine scratches on the obverse and a couple more inside the wreath. Lightly cleaned and retoned glossy medium chocolate brown with lighter brown in protected areas. A splash of reddish brown toning at star 13 is the best identifying mark. MDS, Manley state 2.0, with a clear die crack through the tops of MERICA. Not perfect but still decent for a rare variety that is seldom seen in grades better than VG. Estimate Value $1,500 - UP
