Lot 23

1795 C-4 R3 Punctuated Date, Plain Edge F12. Sharpness near VF25 but there are several fine pinscratches on the obverse, including a couple relatively strong ones at IBER. The reverse, in contrast, is essentially mark-free. No roughness or verdigris, and the toning is an attractive glossy medium chocolate brown and steel. MDS, Manley state 2.0. The bulge in the field before the face is clear and EN in CENT is very weakly struck (a characteristic of the later die state) but all of HALF is clear. The date is strong and the "punctuation" between the 1 and 7 is obvious. Weight 82.6 grains. Estimate Value $800 - UP
Ex Bill Bainum (bourse dealer) 5/22/1970-Carvin Goodridge-Goodridge Estate, McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Goldbergs 9/2/2012:38-The Green Tree Collection.
