Lot 229

1856 C-1 R2 PCGS graded MS64 Brown. Frosty medium brown and light olive with traces of mint red showing on both sides, particularly on the obverse. The only marks are a spot of very fine carbon nestled between star 4 and the dentils and a curved struck-through line between stars 4 & 5 (caused by a tiny piece of thread or wire that came between the die and the planchet). Otherwise the surfaces are satiny and offer excellent eye appeal. LDS, Manley state 2.0. The lump on the upright of the I in UNITED is gone. Our grade is MS62. The attribution and Green Tree Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 5; 2 finer, 1 in 64+, 1 in 65 for the variety. Estimate Value $350 - UP
