Lot 228

1856 C-1 R2 PCGS graded MS64 Red & Brown, CAC Approved. Frosty bluish steel and olive with 15% of the obverse and 25% of the reverse showing original mint red. The only notable marks are a few microscopic specks of dark toning near the dentils right of the date and a minor carbon spot at the top of the I in AMERICA. LDS, Manley state 2.0. There is no lump on the upright of the I in UNITED. A shallow low spot (caused by debris on the die) covers parts of the field inside the wreath. Our grade is MS63. The attribution and Green Tree Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 4; 1 finer in 65 for the variety. Estimate Value $400 - UP
