Lot 221

1855 C-1 R1 PCGS graded MS65 Brown, CAC Approved. Beautiful lustrous light bluish steel and olive with 5% of the obverse and 60% of the reverse showing mint red. The eye appeal of this piece is outstanding. The only marks are a spot of darker toning in the dentils under the 1 in the date and a thin nick at the dentil tips under the adjacent 8. Softly struck in the dentils, which is normal for all but the proof strikes of this date, but everything else is sharply impressed. E-MDS with smooth fields that are just starting to show microscopic radial die flowlines near the dentil tips. A great half cent in spite of the minor imperfections. Our grade is MS64. The attribution and Green Tree Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 4; 1 finer in 66 for the variety. Estimate Value $600 - UP
