Lot 211

1853 C-1 R1 PCGS graded MS66 Brown, CAC Approved. Lustrous bluish steel and olive with slightly faded mint red covering more than 10% of the planchet. The surfaces are covered with satiny mint frost that extends to even the highest points of the design. A trail of microscopic ticks up from the right point of star 2 is the best identifying mark, and this is barely visible with a good glass. MDS, Manley state 1.0 late. The die line through the first T in STATES is dull but still visible and the fields are covered with microscopic radial flowlines A half cent that offers superb eye appeal. Our grade is MS64.
