Lot 210

1853 C-1 R1 PCGS graded MS65 Brown, CAC Approved. Beautiful lustrous bluish steel and light olive brown with generous traces of mellowed mint red showing on the obverse and about 20% of the reverse covered with mint red. Satiny mint frost covers this half cent and the eye appeal is outstanding. No spots or stains, and the only mark is a tiny nick on the eye brow, a few microscopic ticks on the cheek, and a tiny tick on the upper part of the upright of the F in HALF. None of these marks is visible without the aid of a strong glass. Sharply struck E-MDS, Manley state 1.0. The die line slanting through the first T in STATES is clear and it nearly reaches the berry below. Our grade is MS63+, close to MS64. The attribution and Green Tree Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 1 finer in 66 for the variety. Estimate Value $700 - UP
