Lot 199

1849 C-1 R2- PCGS graded MS64 Brown. Glossy light to medium chocolate brown with a few tiny peeps of faded mint red on the reverse. The fields are smooth and slightly reflective, and this half cent has excellent eye appeal. The best identifying mark, and it is microscopic, is a tiny chip or void on the bust tip. EDS, Manley state 1.0 early. The die lines from the dentils over NI in UNITED are sharp. In addition the date and most of the stars show clear doubling. Our grade is MS63. The attribution and Green Tree Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 6; 3 finer in 65 for the variety. Estimate Value $800 - UP
Ex Heritage Auctions 9/13/2004:5033-The Green Tree Collection.
