Lot 155

1825 C-2 R1 PCGS graded MS65+ Brown, CAC Approved. Very attractive lustrous medium brown and light chocolate with subtle overtones of light bluish steel. Satiny mint frost covers this piece, even the highest points of the devices, and it offers outstanding eye appeal. Essentially flawless. The best identifying mark, and it is barely visible, is a tiny spot of slightly darker chocolate brown toning nestled against the curl left of star 13. MDS, Manley state 2.0 late. Fine die rust shows on both sides (microscopic lumps on the coin), and the stem end is very weak but the tip remains visible. The repunching on star 12 is fading but still visible. Another wonderful 1825 half cent. Our grade is MS64. The attribution and Green Tree Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; none finer for the variety. Estimate Value $4,000 - UP
Ex Northeast Numismatics 8/7/2002-The Green Tree Collection.
