Lot 144

1811 C-1 R5+ (for the die state) PCGS graded F12, CAC Approved. Glossy medium chocolate brown with lighter steel brown toning on the devices. This piece offers excellent eye appeal for the grade. The only notable mark is a fine vertical hairline scratch in the cap left of star 8, and you need a glass to see it. Rare Terminal Die State (TDS) with a very large cud break connecting the first 4 stars to the rim. The cud consumed so much of the planchet metal that the opposing ITED-S are weakly impressed (as always in this die state). Our grade is VG10. The attribution and Green Tree Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 8 finer for the variety (regardless of die state). Estimate Value $1,000 - UP
Ex Heritage Auctions 8/4/2008-The Green Tree Collection.
