Lot 135

1810 C-1 R1 Repunched 0 PCGS graded MS64 Brown. Lustrous medium brown and bluish steel with wisps and small puffs of darker olive brown. Traces of very faded mint red remain visible on both sides, particularly on the reverse. Satiny mint frost covers the surfaces, even the highest points of the devices, and the eye appeal is quite nice in spite of the uneven toning. The only notable defects are a small spot of reddish carbon under the lower left point of star 8 and another tiny spot of fine carbon at the dentil tips right of the F in OF. E-MDS with sharp repunching at the lower left of the 0 in the date. Dentils show around the entire obverse and the reverse is rotated 30 degrees CCW. Our grade is MS60. The attribution and Green Tree Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 3 finer, 1 in 65, 1 in 65+, 1 in 66+ for the variety. Estimate Value $3,500 - UP
Ex Goldbergs 6/2005:14-The Green Tree Collection.
