Trains -- New York Model Train, 1831, and a Spike From the Death Railroad in "Bridge Over the River Kwai". Metal train with an engine and four cars, 7½" long, engraved on base: "First Train Operated on the New York Central R.R. Aug. 1831 / Evans, Stillman & Co., New York / Equipment Trust Securities." The name of the governor, DeWitt Clinton, is engraved on the car behind the engine. With a genuine 5" spike used on the famous Death Railway in World War II which was featured in the 1957 film, The Bridge Over the River Kwai." This is one of 1023 spikes brought to the U.S. by Dr. Robert G. Johnson, Valley Forge, Pa., who sold them to benefit the River Kwai Mission. Estimate $200 - 300
