19th Century English Field Microscope for Viewing Slides, in Original Box, Possible Sales Sample. From the 1870s, a small, field slide microscope from Thompson & Co. Opticians and Mathematical Instrument Makers, 24 Manchester Street, Liverpool. Consignor thought this to be a salesman's sample and it may well be, but online we noted images of similarly-sized microscopes from the period used in the field. Brass construction, telescopic lens, reflector mirror and stand 3¼" tall. Comes in original wood box with brass hook latch 3½ x 1 x 1½" with manufacturer information on bottom of wood box.
