Speck, Gene " California Hill Country" (1937 -) Gene Speck was raised in California and now a resident of Nevada. He is a self-taught painter of landscapes, traditional Great Plains scenes with Indian encampments, ranches and panoramic views. His works are celebrated for their astonishing detail and photo realism. "California Hill Country" an original oil on canvas is a superior example of his talents. A deeply nostalgic look at the past captured in this abandoned homestead, tall grasses choking out the dilapidated barn, home and windmill that once was a family home in the early 20th century again rendered in meticulous detail; every reed of dried grass, every limb, the knots on the lumber of the barn. Painting measures 18 x 24" and handsomely framed in distressed wood to 29 x 35". Estimate $1,200 - 1,500
From the collection of Jackie and Gene Autry.

Realized $1,380
