Sale 100

Lot 165

1867. PCGS graded MS-65. Rare in all grades, especially so in mint state. Gorgeous rich teal and blue toning with golden accents spans the entire obverse and reverse. The surfaces are free of nicks or handling marks, and the only sign of age is the splendid colorful hues over the surfaces. During the monetary upheaval of the Civil War, most coins disappeared from circulation. Little silver was available for coinage, and mintages plummeted to a modest issue for many silver coins of this period. Only 4,000 struck for circulation. Pop 4; 6 finer, 2 in 66, 3 in 67, 1 in 67+. (PCGS # 3687) Estimate Value $10,000 - UP
