1859-C. NGC graded MS-62. A bright and frosty coin that shows a decent strike on the central devices along with clean fields and surfaces. As the Civil War grew ever so close on the heals of this issue, this coin was likely saved and somehow survived the war, unscathed and uncirculated. Less than one percent of the original Charlotte mintage surivived from 1859, and this is clearly one of the finest examples known today. A foremost condition rarity.
