Lot 1075

1855-D. NGC graded AU-58. Well struck with lovely golden toning. These were all struck in February of 1855 at the Dahlonega Mint. There are two die pairings known, and the finest seen in MS-64. No more than a half dozen exist in Mint State, thus this lovely AU-58 coin should be strongly considered by any date specialist in the market for this prized rarity. Only 1,811 struck, of which perhaps 80 distinct coins suvive today. Not only is this a rarity from the Dahlonega Mint, but it is the second rarest Gold dollar over all, and is also the coveted Type II design. Pop 11; 6 finer at NGC. (PCGS # 7534) Estimate Value $25,000 - 27,000

Realized $49,350
