Lot 468

1837 Liberty Seated Half Dime. No stars, small date. NGC graded MS-65. The flat top 1 or small date is much rarer than the pointed 1 according to Breen. Frosty white luster in the fields and with a touch of gold toning starting to form on both sides. As a type coin this date and grade is fairly available, but always in high demand by a variety of collectors that need one. Boldly struck and from a middle die state with some die crumbling along the right side of Liberty, but this one was struck before the die failed at the first A of AMERICA (although a minor die crack is noted there). Truly a beautiful coin in every way.
Estimated Value $1,500 - 1,700.

Realized $1,380
