Greece, c. 450-200 BC. Good lot. Lot of Three Fractional AR's, and Two AE's, which include a rare issue of Scythia. From Macedon, two Tetrobols: Perkidas II, 451-413 BC. Galloping horse right / Helmet right, in incuse square (SNG ANS 37ff); Amphipolis Autonomus Issue, 196-168 BC. Head of maenad right / Prow of ship right (SNG Cop. 1290). From Selge, an AR Obol, 300-190 BC. Facing head of Gorgoneion or Apollo / Helmeted head of Athena right (SNG Cop. 253). From Rhegion, an AE Tetras (16 mm.), c. 210-89 BC. with Jugate heads of the Dioscuri right / Apollo holding scepter left (SNG ANS 778ff.). Last a fine and rare AE 23 mm. of the Scythian King, Aelis, c. 100 BC.: Jugate heads of the Dioscuri right, wearing wreathed caps / Jugate horse heads right (cf. Head, Historia Numorum, p. 289). Lot of 5 coins. The Italian bronze with excellent dark green, glossy patina; the Scythian with pleasing dark brown-black, with touches of red and green. The rest variously toned. Lot of 5 coins. Perdikkas Fine, the rest Very Fine, or somewhat better.
