Macedonian Kingdom. Alexander III, the Great, 336-323 BC. Scarce. Gold Stater (8.5 g), Ake mint, struck c. 315-310 BC. Head of Athena right. wearing crested helmet with coiled serpent ornament. Reverse: Nike standing left, holding wreath and stylis; below left, date in Aramic script (partly off flan). Cf. Price 3284 (listed as griffin helmet, but snake obvious in photo; dated to 314/313 BC). Well struck up high relief portrait. Very Fine or better.
