1915 Copper Frame for the complete Panama-Pacific Set. An original Shreve & Company of San Francisco Panama Pacific Set. Choice Extremely Fine. Nice color on the ribbon and in top condition for one of these. The frame includes places for the Half Dollar, One Dollar Gold, Quarter Eagle, and both $50 gold pieces. Scarce and difficult to find in such original and choice condition. Obviously, this frame has spent most of its time in storage and was not jostled about and put on display where the color of the flet and ribbions are subject to fading.

Complete sets of the Panama-Pacific coinage were issued in both copper frames (which carried a premium) or leather cases and sold for $200. Since only 483 of the $50 rounds were minted, and of course some were sold individually, the number of copper frames issued was far less. We suspect that no more than 150 were actually issued with many of these being destroyed and discarded over the years.
