Eagle. 1854-0 Large Date. PCGS graded AU-58. Many times rarer that the Small Date variety and easily distinguishable. A fully lustrous specimen that must have been plucked from circulation shortly after issue. Most of the surviving examples are found in low grade and according to Walter Breen when he wrote his Encyclopedia in 1988, 'uncirculateds' were completely unknown. This lovely example ranks high within the condition census as PCGS has graded but 4 in AU-58 with 2 higher.
