Seated Liberty Dollar. 1842. AU-58. Lovely gray color and well struck, but there is one hidden mark on Liberty, near her waist. On the reverse the rim has been carelessly filed along the left side, perhaps to hide some rim bumps and other disturbances. These large heavy coins often suffered from rim bumps and similar problems and were then repaired by persons of varying degrees of skill.
