1787 Fugio Cent, Newman 4-E, Club Rays, Rounded Ends. EF-40. Both sides display a delightful, mild chocolate color, with olive highlighting surrounding the legends and devices. Some minor planchet laminations are noted on either side, but none are too distracting and all are consistent with the quality of the metal used to produce Fugio Cents. Both sides are nice and smooth where the surfaces received the impression of the dies. This piece compares very favorably with the plate coin in Kessler's reference.
