AR shekel (13.94 g), Year One (66/67 AD). Chalice with smooth rim, pearl on either side, inscription around (shekel of Israel), above chalice, date (aleph - Year 1).
Reverse: Stem with pearled base and three pomegranates, around inscr. (Jerusalem the holy). AJC II, 259, 2. Hen. 655. Boldly struck, excellent silver and completely free from porosity. An outstanding example of the important Year One Shekel. Superb Extremely Fine.
