Egyptian Ptolemaic Period (323-31 B.C.) Three-Piece Cartonnage Set. Three-piece set includes chest, leg, and foot coverings with elaborate, polychrome painted details to surface. Chestpiece distinguished by its depiction of a colorful, elaborately beaded pectoral necklace over kneeling figure of Nut, her wings outspread in an iconic gesture of protection. Size: 13½ x 16¾". Rectangular leg covering features profile representations of four animal-headed deities. Size: 5¼ x 12¼". Foot covering bears a realistic depiction of the tanned feet of the deceased clad in white thong sandals, the solesof which are beatifully detailed. Size: 8 x 6½ x 4¼". Despite some cracking to the painted plaster and occasional perforations, this remarkable set remains in excellent condition. Estimate Value $5,000 - UP
