Will Rogers and Wiley Post Signed Photo & Signed Illustration ca. 1930s. Will Rogers (1879-1935) proved one of the greatest personalities of the early 20th century in stage, film and vaudeville who found enormous success as a cowboy, humorist, newspaper columnist, and social commentator. Wiley Post (1898-1935) was one of the most famous aviators of the period, the first man to fly around the globe solo, developed the first pressure suit for high altitude flight and credited for discovery of the jet stream. Close friends, Post and Rogers left Lake Washington in August of 1935 and made several stops in Alaska. While Post piloted the aircraft, Rogers wrote his columns on his typewriter covering the journey. On August 15, they took off from a lagoon near Fairbanks and the plane engine failed at low altitude and crashed killing both. Offered together is a double weight sepia toned 8 x 10" portrait of Will Rogers boldly signed, and a pencil sketch of Wiley Post 5½ x 3½" signed and dated in pen 10/19/33. Estimate Value $300 - 500
