James Dean Autographed Vintage Original Half-Sheet for REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE. James Dean (1931-1955) along with Marilyn Monroe, remains one of the most iconic faces of the 20th century. Offered is a vintage original release half-sheet 22 x 28" for REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE a very nice find as Dean died in a car crash just a few weeks prior to the film's release. REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE was nominated for three Academy Awards with Dean being the first actor to be nominated posthumously for Best Actor. As for this 1955 poster, this format was discontinued in the early 80s but in the 50s and 60s, the size proved very popular with theater owners. As in this case, posters were shipped by National Screen Service usually twice folded. But for valued half-sheets from the past, professional conservation of the paper is now commonly practiced. Posters are rice-paper backed and the evidence of fold lines discreetly airbrushed out for optimum display. Clearly an experienced poster restoration artist attended to this piece without any compromise to the colors of the poster or Dean's excellent signature. Estimate Value $2,000 - 3,000
