Lot 362

1848 N-21 R3- PCGS graded MS64 Red & Brown. Lustrous mint red mellowing to bluish steel and light olive with nearly half the planchet showing mint color. No notable contact marks. The best identifying marks are a very faint puff of slightly darker toning over star 3 and some darker reddish olive toning nestled over the UN in UNITED. E-MDS, die state b late. The tops of the C & E in CENT are joined by crumbling, there is some crumbling inside the bottom of that E, but there is no crumbling inside the top of that E. Our grade is MS63, tied for CC#4 in the Grellman census. The attribution and Heard provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 3; none finer for the variety. PCGS #406492.
