1807 S-275 R3 Large Fraction PCGS graded AU53, CAC Approved. Choice glossy medium chocolate brown with a few peeps of frosty lighter brown and tan in protected areas on both sides. A beautiful cent, nearly flawless. The best identifying marks are a tiny mark in the field off the forehead, another in the field near the upper lip, and a few tiny chips or pinpricks hidden on the leaf below CA in AMERICA. MDS, Breen state II, with strong die clashmarks on the obverse. Graded VF35 by Bland. Noyes also says VF35 and tied for CC#5, his photo #26864. Our grade is VF35+, close to EF40. Comes with a nice provenance that has been traced back 100 years. The attribution and Husak-Heard provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 2 finer, 1 in 58, 1 in 62 for the variety.
