Lot 196

1652 Massachusetts Pine Tree Shilling Noe-29 Rarity-3 PCGS graded VF35. A Small Planchet type. Very attractive glossy medium grayish steel with lighter silvery steel toning on the devices. The surfaces are smooth and nearly flawless. The only notable mark is a tiny pinprick just left of the date. The date and tree are strong and the legends are complete, although a few letters on the reverse (date side) are tight to the edge of the planchet. A nice mid-grade example of this classic Early American coinage. The attribution, Heard provenance, and weight of 70.2 grains are noted on the PCGS label. Listed on page 41 in the "Redbook." Estimate Value $3,000 - UP
Ex John Agre (CoinRaritiesOnline) 6/26/2013-Gene Heard Collection.
