From the Dr. Patrick Tan Collection.
This Tyre AR didrachm, of half-shekel weight coupled with the PIH counter-mark, is suggestive of its use as satisfying the Jerusalem Temple tribute tax during the early Herodian period when these issues freely circulated. Every Jewish male over the age of twenty was obliged to pay the half-shekel tribute. (Exodus 30: 11-16; Mishna Shekalim 2,4).

Realized $400
