Lot 688

1803 S-261 R2 Small Date, Large Fraction EF40. Glossy steel brown and chocolate with traces of frosty tan faded down from mint color along the profile of Ms Liberty. The reverse has overtones of darker steel. Sharpness EF45+ but there are a few small spots of very shallow roughness at TAT in STATES and a few more at the T in CENT through the wreath to RIC in AMERICA. No verdigris. The only notable contact mark is a very thin nick or planchet crease tucked between the bottom of the bust tip and the dentils below. LDS, Breen state VI. The die clashmarks are clear, the die crack that arcs up through the shoulder and lower curls is strong, and the area at the lowest curl is swollen causing obvious weakness at the opposing area at TAT. A very nice example of the late die state, and this one is about the latest seen. Estimate Value $1,000 - UP
Ex Continental Investment Group 4/21/1989-Stephen Fischer-Tom Reynolds-Del Bland (comes with the Bland collection envelope).

Realized $2,350
