Lot 1454

1916. NGC graded MS-65 Full Head. A fully frosty white gem of this important first year of issue. Furthermore only 52,000 were struck and these were all released in early 1917 along with thousands of 1917 quarters! Hence the 1916 issue escaped into circulation unnoticed, and precious few were saved from this meager beginning. Finding one with a full head is a real challenge as most of those that were saved show more softness in the strike on Liberty's head than found here. And to top evertying off, the surfaces are fully Gem quality, with the satiny luster undisturbed by more than a few tiny scuffsand nicks. A prized example for the most advanced collection of this gorgeous series. A popular key date. Pop 47; 25 finer at NGC.
Estimated Value $25,000 - 27,000.
