Lot 1399

1937-D. 3 legs. PCGS graded MS-64. A nice example of this popular Red Book variety. The strike is sharp with a full horn on the bison, and the surfaces are free of all but minute handling marks. The diagnostic stream of dots beneath the belly of beast is present, and the moth-eaten appearance of the hind legs of the bison are noted. This die was really messed up! Of course, the all important foreleg of the bison is missing from the top of the shoulder down to his lonely hoof on the ground. A tough variety to find this nice. Pop 178; 70 finer at PCGS. (PCGS # 3982) .
Estimated Value $5,000 - 5,500.

Realized $5,875
