Lot 53

1797 C-3a R3 Low Head, Plain Edge VF20. Very attractive glossy medium brown and light chocolate. Smooth and nearly free of marks except for a line of dull, light rim nicks over the top of the cap, a thin diagonal nick high on the cheek, and a rim nick at the first T in STATES. Otherwise this piece would rate a slightly higher grade. LDS, Manley state 3.0. The "Tongue" break from the chin is strong and extends to the rim as a very dull crack. A very nice example of the "Low Head" type for 1797. Weight 85.8 grains.
Estimated Value $3,000-UP.
Ex M. H. Bolender at the 1958 ANA-Bill Weber (the Weber collection envelope is included).

Realized $4,935
