Lot 461

1817 N-1 R4 VF25+. Sharpness near EF40 but recolored glossy dark steel brown and chocolate with traces of frosty tan in protected areas. The surfaces are decent but not perfectly smooth showing microscopic granularity under strong magnification. No spots, stains, or notable contact marks. A planchet cutter depression shows at the dentil tips from star 4 to just beyond star 7, as struck. LDS showing a clear die crack from the bust tip to the rim under star 1 and another lighter one from the tip of the coronet to the rim left of star 6. A decent example of a tough die variety, and it comes with a nice provenance.
Estimated Value $300-UP.
