Lot 327

1797 S-130 R2 VF30. Sharpness VF35 or slightly better but there are some light contact marks on the rims on both sides, none significant but too many to ignore at this sharpness level. The notable ones are an irregular rim nick under the left base of the 1 in the date, a light rim bruise over the R in AMERICA, and a tiny rim bruise just right of the fraction. Glossy chocolate brown and steel. LDS, Breen state V. The internal cud break behind the head is strong and a fine vertical crack reaches from the dentils off the bust tip to the dentils right of the Y. Noyes graded EF40 net VF30 and tied for CC#15, his photo #56587. Removed from an NGC slab graded AU53 (NGC label #508671-001 included, and it shows the attribution and Rasmussen provenance).
Estimated Value $1,000-UP.
Ex 1980 Long Beach Expo Bourse-Dr. Philip W. Ralls 1984-Wes Rasmussen, Heritage 1/13/2005:3152-Shawn Yancey-Tom Reynolds-Greg Hannigan.
