Hawaii. 1883 Royal Hawaiian Agricultural Society Bronze Medal. Uncirculated. Engraved on the reverse: "Premium for the 2nd Best Exhibited Firkin of Butter H. R. Macfarlane". 64 mm, 131.4 g, plain edge. Once cleaned and untoned on both sides. Uncirculated details with surface hairlines on both sides. Housed in the original wooden box as issued. All medals we're offering here were all issued for the members of the Macfarlane family, which seems like a pretty strong group involved in importing and exporting, agriculture, publishing, and other businesses. This piece would make a nice pair with the following lot.
