Rubinstein, Arthur (1887-1983) Polish-American classical pianist; one of the great pianists of the 20th century. Typed letter signed, 1p, 8¾ x 7¼" (Paris), June 15, 1977. To Mr. Michel, Executive Vice President, United Jewish Appeal Federation, saying that at age 90, he can't be sure that he will be able to accept an invitation in New York. Also, regarding a television interview that Mr. Rubinstein had done, "…I am glad that I did express my feelings about my Jewishness on that particular television show….I am sure that I made the statement with full conviction…." Huge signature. Matted with a signed, inscribed photo dated 2-1-78 and framed to an overall size of 13¼ x 17¼".
