Lucania. Thurium, c. 360 BC. AR Distater (16.1 g). A stunning coin, one of the finest examples we've handled in many years. Head of Athena right, wearing crested helmet with Scylla ornament. Reverse: Bull butting right, ethnic above, six pellets below; in exergue, fish right. Noe F 10; SNG ANS 966. Fully struck up on choice metal, and attractively toned. Athena of good style, the bull magnificent. Choice Very Fine, the reverse better.
