Lot 101

1835 C-1 R1 VF30 Counterstamped Brunk Y-2. Counterstamped on the obverse with "MY" and a Star above. The counterstamp is large and strongly impressed causing much of the reverse to be distorted. Otherwise the surfaces are smooth and free of any notable defects. Glossy chocolate brown with lighter brown toning in protected areas on the obverse. LDS, Manley state 2.0. Brunk lists 4 examples of this stamp on half cents (1811, 1833, and two examples of 1835) and one on a large cent (1835), but he does not speculate as to the origin of the stamp. Estimated Value $100-UP
