Lot 95
1788 Massachusetts Half Cent Ryder 1-B Rarity-1 F15. Sharpness VF25 but the surfaces display microscopic granularity and there are numerous fine striations slanting across the lower half of the obverse. No verdigris and only a few trivial contact marks, none notable. Slightly glossy chocolate and steel. The date and legends are clear, including HALF CENT on the shield. Later die state with a crack from the rim up through the left side of the second 8, but this crack is not yet strong. Listed on page 59 in the "Redbook." Weight 78.1 grains.
