Lot 644

1855 Double Struck One Cent Token VG10. Clipped Planchet. Slightly sharper but there are three small digs on the portrait. Glossy tan fading to chocolate in protected areas. Double struck. Both impressions are centered on the planchet but rotated 20-30 degrees from each other. As a result the date is weak, only the first 3 digits readable. A planchet clip affects the dentils at stars 11-12 and the ones over OO in GOOD. A cud break connects "BUT" to the rim, the same die state as the piece offered in our third Dan Holmes sale, 9/19/2010:632. But the Holmes example was not double struck. Another very interesting piece from this old collection.
Estimated Value $30-UP.
Ex Bowers & Merena 6/1985:2432-Carvin Goodridge collection (lot ticket included).

Realized $345
