Lot 634

1855 N-1 R3 PCGS graded MS65 Brown, CAC approved. Lustrous light bluish steel brown and chocolate with 5% of the mint red remaining on both sides. Excellent eye appeal, close to choice. The notable marks are a spot of slightly darker toning at the top of the 1 and another in the hair under star 7, neither spot distracting. EDS, die state a. The spur to the left from the lower part of the 8 is clear and dull diagonal die lines fill the field behind the portrait. An attractive example of a variety that is difficult to find in higher mint state grades. Our grade is MS60+. The attribution and Carvin Goodridge provenance are shown on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; tied for finest at PCGS.
Estimated Value $400-UP.
Ex Gordon Harris 5/26/1983-Carvin Goodridge collection.

Realized $978
