1877-S Trade Dollar. PCGS graded MS-63 PQ. A lovely frosty coin that deserves a MS64 grade. The most plentiful issue is this 1877-S, meaning that a choice coin with this ones elevated eye-appeal would make a perfect addition to ones Type Set or selection of 19th century representative US coins. Trade dollars were supposed to be used for export to Asia, but many actually circulated here. Due to their lack of legal tender status as a Trade coin, this caused marked confusion among the public. The denomination was withdrawn beginning in the late 1880s (PCGS # 7046) .
