1875-CC $20 Liberty. NGC graded AU-53. Untoned with apparent luster throughout the devices, left over from its short while spent in commerce. Most double eagles were kept in bank vaults. There were used as backing for deposits and private currency issues. West of the Rocky Mountains, gold circulated widely, however, since locals of the region disliked currency (paper money) enough to have it outlawed (PCGS # 8974) .
