Deke Slayton’s – "Block of Wood", An interesting and nicely displayed cross section of a tree. The plaque reads, "To Donald K. Slayton with warmest regards from Life Casualty Insurance Company of Tennessee, Oct 25, 1975. This block of wood was cut from a 200 year old walnut tree at the "Hermitage" Nashville, Tennessee. Home of Andrew Jackson, Seventh President of the United States." The frame measures 11½ x 14¼". A beautiful display piece. Ex. the Astronaut Donald K. "Deke" Estate Collection.
